I first came into Kreloses as a Sales and Marketing Assistant. It is one of the most important positions in a company since we contribute to the revenue at the end of the day. In this role, I learnt various techniques to approach and sell our product to the customers such as cold calls, sales negotiation, hard selling and more.

I worked as a promoter and other part-time jobs when I was still pursuing my tertiary education in multiple retail shops. Promoters need to have a big smile everyday whenever you greet your customers and promote the products to them in a way that will appeal to them. These experiences have somehow built the fundamentals and prepared me for my next career.

When I started working in Kreloses, I learnt how to search for leads, identify potential customers and proceed to make cold calls. Some may think that cold call is hard especially when you need to approach different types of business owners. In my opinion, I think that every job has its own hardship and struggles that one need to face and we can only try to take it as positively as possible.

To make cold calls, you would need to have a lot of patience and be optimistic. You only have one minute to convey your message clearly with confidence so you have to keep everything short and simple yet appealing enough to attract the customer's attention and interest. Of course, there are going to be some customers who will directly hang up on you as soon as they hear you promoting a product to them. This is why it is important to give them the idea of consultation instead of just hard selling since this is one of the biggest causes of people turning their heads away. You need to let them know that you are trying to help.

When that's done, I would need to follow up with the potential customers to get their feedback or prompt them to take a look at our product again if they were too busy to do so previously. If and when they showed interest, I will then set a schedule for an online or a face-to-face demonstration between the customer and my colleague. We also offer a trial version of our product so that interested individuals can try it out for themselves and see how it works, how it is beneficial to them and if it is suitable to their business.

I certainly think that in order to become a good salesperson, the most important values that you would need to have are patience and persistence. You should never give up, constantly push yourself harder and challenge yourself to achieve better results. Everyone is busy with their lives and may give you lots of excuses to end your call as soon as possible but as long as you know how to handle the situation, you will be able to do well. After all, the best salesperson understands the potential customer's needs and sell them the solution to their problems instead of blindly selling a product.
